Clinical Research
The Center for Foot and Ankle Disorders conducts clinical research in advanced wound care. Our physicians lead active studies focused on diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) and venous leg ulcers (VLU), helping bring emerging treatments to the patients who need them most.
Research is a core part of how our practice advances the standard of care. If you or a patient you care for is living with a chronic wound, our team can help you understand whether a current study may be a fit.

Meet Dr. Troiano
Dr. Michael A. Troiano is a fellowship-trained, board-certified reconstructive foot and ankle surgeon and a lead surgeon at the Center for Foot and Ankle Disorders. Our physicians built an independent practice because patients deserve surgeons who know their name and make decisions based on what is best for them, not an institution.
With hospital privileges at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Jefferson Bucks, Jefferson Torresdale, and Jefferson Methodist, and as adjunct faculty at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Troiano brings institutional-level expertise with the personal touch of a neighborhood practice.
Meet our physiciansWhy Independent Matters
When surgeons answer to a hospital system, patients can feel it. Our physicians run an independent practice, which means decisions are made for the patient, not the institution.
Faster access, personal attention, and surgeons who know your name. That is the difference an independent practice makes.
